Tonight I checked the length and routing of the oil cooler hoses. First change I made from the plans was to use steel AN8 fittings between the engine and the tubing, instead of the aluminum ones that Van's sends with the firewall forward kit. Since the engine block and oil cooler are aluminum, by using aluminum fittings there is a chance for some galling to occur if you ever need to take them out. I thought it would be easier to just avoid the whole possibility and go with steel from the get-go. This I believe is the return line from the oil cooler back to the engine. It sits on top and is pretty easy to get to with a straight through fitting. I used some permatex between the fitting and the engine block.

However, the line to the oil cooler is another ballpark. That was a major pain in the ass to install. No access whatsoever. I needed to use a crowfoot to get the 45 degree steel adapter in there, and even that wasn't fun. I am sure I could of taken the EMAG off, but that would eliminate the challenge! I also needed to take the oil filter off. The tube is a tight fit, and right now it rubs against the governor cable bracket. I will probably install an adel clamp around the tube in a night or so.
