I received my oil analysis results today from my most recent oil change. If you follow this site closely, you'll notice the report looks completely different from the other reports I had. I recently switch from using Blackstone Labs to Aviation Oil Analysis (AOA). I was very happy with Blackstone, except the cost of their service was steep - roughly $30 for the analysis, plus shipping nudged it near the $40 mark. I stopped by the AOA booth at Oshkosh this year and they had a deal I couldn't say no to. I believe it was 10 pre-paid oil samples for $88. So for roughly $9/oil change, it was a no-brainer. It pays for itself within 2 oil changes using Blackstone.

I will give credit where credit is due. I was completely spoiled by how comprehensive the Blackstone report was. They measured so many more metals and contaminates than AOA does (Blackstone did 20 elements and 6 properties with their analysis. AOA did only 7 elements and no properties). Plus the Blackstone commentary was very good. If money wasn't a factor, I would go with Blackstone every time.

The turn around time was about a week from the day I shipped (first class mail - $2.62) to the time I received the report. It took AOA 3-4 days to give me the report once they received it.
