I fabricated up some 13/16" and 1/8" spacers. Van's tells you to use 7/8" instead of 13/16, but that doesn't give you the right spacing between the rollbar and aft canopy frame.

Next I needed to figure out where the screws would be placed that hold the canopy to the roll bar. The rivet layout was 1.5", according to the manual, but Van's tells you to use 2.5" spacing for the screws. Well, any way I tried it, eventually I got interference between a rivet and a screw hole. If Van's really wanted 2.5" spacing to work out for the screws, the rivet spacing should of been 1.25". So, I said screw the 2.5" spacing and I will go with a 3" spacing.

The whole reason I needed to know the screw spacing was to know where to flute the F-631A channels. I really lucked out because these puppies didn't need really any fluting. They were perfect out of the box. The only thing they needed was the flange adjusted to 92.5 degrees (they come 88 degrees)

Next I got the canopy side rails out and placed them on the fuselage. The left side was dead nuts perfect. The right side wasn't so much. After some frustration and some bangin' on the vice, I think I have a good fit.

Next I taped the 13/16" spacers to the F-631A channels and clamped them to the rollbar.

The spacers make the F-631A's sit exactly 1/4" from the rollbar.
